Health innovation practice
The Health Innovation practice brings more than fifteen years of leadership experience in biomedical research, scientific merit review, and vaccine development to organizations working at the frontier of global health.
What to fund, how to review it, how to structure it, and how to move complex R&D portfolios toward measurable public-health impact.
Drawing on direct experience building programs at ARPA-H, we help organizations define program scope, build evaluation frameworks, structure funding solicitations, and manage performer portfolios toward strategic milestones.
As a former Scientific Review Officer at NIH/NIAID and an active ad-hoc expert reviewer for CEPI, Patricia provides rigorous, constructive evaluation of research proposals, portfolios, and strategic documents.
Experience coordinating Phase-1 clinical trial programs across NIH, Johns Hopkins, Sanaria, Walter Reed Army Institute, and Novavax for malaria, COVID-19, and HIV research portfolios.
Practical experience from the ARPA-H IndiPHARM program integrating machine learning and digital platforms into drug regimen optimization across discovery, clinical trial design, and manufacturing decisions.
Portfolio leadership and program architecture in the Health Sciences Futures Mission Office.
Scientific review leadership, infectious disease grants and contracts, and NIAID Merit Awards in 2021 and 2022.
Expert review and roster participation for international global health evaluation.
Patricia leads the Health Innovation practice at Pachamama Studios BV. She joined the studio in September 2025 after relocating from Washington DC, where she served as a Portfolio Lead in ARPA-H's Health Sciences Futures Mission Office.
Prior to ARPA-H, she spent over three years as a Scientific Review Officer at NIH/NIAID, led project management for a malaria vaccine Phase-1 clinical trial, and served as scientific manager of a mass spectrometry facility. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Discuss a health innovation engagementScience visualization practice
The Science Visualization practice helps museums, universities, research teams, and public-facing institutions turn complex Earth, space, climate, and systems science into experiences people can see, understand, and remember.
From permanent installations to traveling sphere experiences and custom visual content, the practice focuses on clarity, awe, and audience engagement without flattening the science.
Complete support for spherical displays, including installation, upgrades, maintenance, training, content planning, and educational program development.
Flexible spherical exhibit experiences for conferences, exhibitions, educational events, social programs, and public engagement campaigns.
Scientific datasets, visuals, and stories shaped for specific audiences, institutional goals, and presentation formats.
Ongoing development around new features, AI-supported workflows, and collaborations with customers and academic institutions to increase the impact of spherical visualization.
Visualization leadership and direct experience with one of the world's most recognized spherical science education platforms.
Science communication across climate, oceans, atmosphere, space, and environmental systems.
Exhibit and content work designed for visitor engagement, guided presentations, and self-directed discovery.
Juan Pablo founded Pachamama Studios B.V. in 2025 after working several years as Visualization Lead for NOAA's Science On a Sphere program. His work focuses on helping audiences understand the planet, its systems, and humanity's relationship with them through immersive visual experiences.
Pachamama Studios was created to support clearer, more engaging science communication at a time when climate change and public understanding of science remain urgent challenges. The studio's name and logo reflect that mission: Pachamama is Quechua for Mother Earth, and the Chacana represents dualities that come together while preserving diversity and harmony.

The Chacana, or Andean Cross, represents dualities that still come together as one while providing space for diversity and harmony. The images inside the Chacana range from the surface of the Sun to the depths of the ocean, representing the breadth of the studio's work.
